Today Native Instruments rolled out the latest update to their flagship DJ software Traktor Pro 2. The biggest new addition is the ability to map the Remix Deck controls that were previously only available to Kontrol F1 users. Other features include deck header tweaks, timecode optimization, and support for Native Instruments’ new Kontrol Z2 controller. With the ability to map more of Traktor’s Remix Deck controls, I expect to see a flurry of custom MIDI mappings for various controllers coming soon.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Integration of TRAKTOR KONTROL Z1
  • Overall performance and stability improvements

BROWSER:

  • Fixed text input for Japanese characters (Windows)

CONTROLLER MANAGER:

  • Added controls for direct mapping of Remix Deck cells
  • Added controls for advanced Remix Deck features: Reverse, Quantize, Cell Load, Cell Delete and Cell Capture
  • “Invert” option now properly available for all control types

DECKS:

  • Timecode and deck related warning messages are now prominently displayed in the Deck Header
  • Added Flux Mode button to the Transport Section

MIXER:

  • Removed Mixer Headroom setting for External Mixer mode
  • Headroom setting of TRAKTOR KONTROL Z2 no longer affects other devices

TIMECODE:

  • Improved timecode reliability when using Hot Cues (all media)
  • Improved resistance against record damage (Vinyl MK2)
  • Improved tracking alert warning (Vinyl MK2)
  • High Input warning (CD all)
  • Scroll-Zone unresponsiveness fixed (CD MK2)

You can download the update via the Service Center app or at Native Instruments’ update site.

Hi! First of all, you have done some nice tutorials here 🙂 Great job! Thank you for bringing the awesome news! How about a tutorial on how to map those remix decks? 😉 I am on Launchpad, so I am mostly interested in triggering (trigger, re-trigger AND stop (maybe over a modifier)) and led response (playing/stopped color coded (empty cell = led off, cell loaded = color1, cell playing = color2)) of the cells. If it’s possible at all… 😉

I haven’t updated to version 2.6.1 yet, let alone 2.6.2. I’d have to update to a newer version of OSX, which I’m not sure that I want to do. This may be the tipping point though.

In the meantime, check out our video on using MIDI-Out commands to control LEDs. It’ll give you some background information.
