This video is all about finding the right sample for your kits. One of Maschine’s best features is the library browser. It’s so easy to hone in on the the perfect sample. Watch this video to learn how to audition samples using Maschine’s prehear function and replace samples without losing your patterns.

When in browse mode, button 4 is the option for prehear. With prehear on, you can listen to the samples in the browser as you select them. In the software, pressing the speaker button at the bottom of the browser will do the same thing. You also have the ability to change the volume of the samples that you preview by adjusting this slider. With prehear enabled, use knobs 5-8 to scroll through them. They all do the same thing, so it doesn’t matter which one you use. You can also press buttons 5 and 6 to go to the previous and next sample in the list. When you find a sample that you like, press button 8 to load the sample into the selected sound slot.

What takes Maschine’s sample browsing experience to the next level is the ability to replace samples while retaining their patterns. If you decide that a sound isn’t exactly what you’re am looking for, go back to the browser, find a new sample, and then press load to replace it while keeping the beats intact. Alternatively, you could use Maschine’s autoload function. To enable autoload, click on the circular arrow icon down in the bottom left of the browser. With autoload turned on, the sample that you click on in the browser will automatically replace the sample that is loaded in the selected sound slot. This is great if you want to audition sounds while your pattern is playing. Just be aware that you cannot use autoload and prehear at the same time.
