This video tutorial builds upon Episode 045 and looks at the basics of sidechain compression. You may be familiar with sidechain compression from DJ mixers that have a “ducking” feature associated with the microphone input. Sidechain compression uses a secondary audio signal - also called a key - to trigger the compressor. Use of sidechain compression in electronic dance music can give elements a pumping sound and also carve out space within a mix.
