Twitter Updates
This has been the easiest and most complete video and tutorial to creating an RSS feed that works with Itunes. Very easy for lay people like myself who know very little about XML programming. Thanks.
Thanks. I’m glad you were able to understand it. It took me a while to figure out what everything meant, and what I could and couldn’t add into a feed. Expect similar tutorials like this one coming online soon.
I have a question. Once you post a feed, can you edit it? Remove it? Basically, I’d like to submit the second episode, but I cannot resubmit the same feed. Does it do that automatically once I add the new item to the same feed?
I look forward to new tutorials. Thanks!
Yes. Once you would like to add a second episode, you just add it into the xml file. You don’t need to re-submit it to iTunes. It will update automatically. If you decide that you want to put an item into the feed, but then remove it later, you can do that as well.
Awesome. Thanks. That worked perfectly. I have another question about the picture. It needs to be exactly 300×300 for itunes to accept it? Mine was 302×302, but I just changed it. There doesn’t need to be a line of code with the size?
It doesn’t need to be exactly 300×300. Just as long as it is square, and 300×300 or larger it will be okay. iTunes will shrink it down to scale.
Weird, I’m still not getting it working even though it’s exactly as you said and as apple.com suggests. Hey, but thanks for answering all pf my questions. You’ve been a huge help
My guess is that something else is wrong with your file. Put it through a validator, like this one: http://validator.w3.org/#validate_by_input. It’ll look at your file and tell you if there is anything that needs to be changed.
Hey Peter
Thank you so much for all your help you rock!
One more question this is the error message we receive on the feed validator…

the feed passes anyways but something is wrong…you can download the episode but it does not show up in the itunes store/dj ralf hugger…..as all the other episodes have done so far….I really would appreciate your advice….
Hey Peter-
All the episodes are on iTunes, one can download them and subscribe to them.
Once you subscribe to them, you can see them in your podcast library, however, when I go to iTunese store to just look up my podcast, only three of the four of the episodes shows up.
The most recent one is not included.
The feed did pass the vaildator website, but it came with an ‘error’ message that I can not fix. Please help.
The recommendation I recieved is as follows.

I dunno why the episodes aren’t showing up if everything is passing the validation test. Fix the recommended issue, while it may not cause the episodes to show up, it will be better off in the long run.
