I’m trying to figure out how I can record my voice for my podcast, without it coming through my speakers at home. I’m planning on a radio style Podcast, mixing music and talking. I have a standard DJ set up, 2 decks & a mixer. I understand a radio studio would have a main mixing desk, then the DJ set up linked to that and the mix linked to that. I don’t particularly want to buy I massive mixing desk, I do have some other DJ mixers lying about. Any advice on how to approach this? Thanks in advance!

    • I would suggest recording your mix first and then adding the spoken word after. That is how I have always done it for my podcasts. It can also prevent some potential problems. For example, if you are recording your words over your mix and you say the wrong thing, you can’t really go back and re-record it. The same idea applies if you are talking over the music and the volume of your voice is too low. Does that sound like a potential solution?

Thanks for the reply. Yeah that could be a solution, my issue I guess would be that ideally i’d like it just like live radio, so doing podcasts will essentially be practice.
