This week we’ll be talking about DJ drops that you can add into your mixes. DJ drops are short vocal recordings that are used as a form of promotion inside a mix and are most commonly heard during online radio shows. If you’ve ever heard “You’re in the mix with DJ ___”, you’ve heard a DJ drop. This week’s video covers when and why to use DJ drops as well as an example that you can edit yourself.

For this video I created a simple drop in Ableton Live. You can download the example that I used in this video at https://thedjpodcast.com/files/TheDJPodcast_DJMarketing101_Video07.zip. In the ZIP file is the Ableton Live 8 project that I used. There is also a WAV file with the dry recording of my voice that you can use in any DAW with multiple takes for the drop that didn’t make it into the video.
